Overview

Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. Lynden Air Cargo conducts operations within Alaska as well as other locations around the world, utilizing its fleet of L382 Hercules aircraft. Lynden's structure provides employees with the family environment of a smaller company, and the competitiveness, expectations and rewards of a large, global organization. The Stores Supervisor manages and performs all aspects of shipping, receiving, and inventory control for the Maintenance Department.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Manages spare parts and material stock for Lynden Air Cargo aircraft in a clean and orderly fashion and in accordance with industry standards and Chapter 11 of the General Maintenance Manual (GMM).

 

Maintains adequate records of aircraft components and materials as required by the applicable CFR’s, industry standards and Chapter 11 of the GMM.

 

Supervises Stores personnel, providing guidance and direction, ensuring adherence to Lynden Air Cargo policies and procedures.

 

Coordinates with Check Managers, ensuring expeditious parts and material support for aircraft in heavy check, by shipping stock on hand or coordinating with purchasing as applicable.

 

Manages the calibrated tool list and calibration records. Schedules calibration events to ensure minimal exposure to special tool requirements/needs.

 

Coordinates parts shipments with LAC’s Chief Export Compliance Officer (CECO) to ensure all shipments are compliant with ITAR regulations and are delivered in a timely fashion.

 

Provides backup relief for ITAR-controlled exports in the absence of LAC’s CECO.

 

Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Purchasing Agent in his/her absence.

 

Schedules and/or accomplishes the quarterly Shelf Life Inspection; ref. GMM008.

 

Coordinates with Director of Quality Control regarding the use and approval of all sources of aircraft parts.

 

Maintains an ATA chapter, part number, type and location system for parts eligible for rotation/reconditioning (rotable), expendable parts (expendables) and tooling.

 

Utilizes hard copy manuals/publications and web based resources for cross-referencing, as necessary, all requisitions for substitute part numbers.

 

Distributes relevant paperwork and forms as required.

 

Coordinates the preparation of special kits for performing maintenance checks, modifications, Service Bulletin compliance, etc.

 

Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance and/or Maintenance Manager to ensure proper stock levels are held at all Stations and in Fly-away kits.

 

Assists Purchasing Agent with sourcing, purchasing and shipping of aircraft parts and components via the most cost effective means available.

 

Assists Purchasing Agent with arranging repair and/or overhaul of unserviceable rotable parts as required.

 

Holds release authority for parts and materials that do not require a Serviceable Parts Tag (GMM035).

 

The delegation of his/her authority, if required, does not relieve his/her overall responsibility.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises Stores personnel in the Maintenance Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of maintenance Stores and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Lynden Air Cargo's policies and procedures as well as applicable CFRs. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with problems that occur in a highly controlled and regulatory driven environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current US Driver License

Current US Passport

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack and hand trucks. Familiar with CFR's related to aircraft parts; familiar with HazMat, ITAR, and Customs requirements. Ability to maintain inventory control using TRAX computer software. Knowledge of Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel software.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time. Must be available to travel domestically, to Canada and other international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
