    SUMMARY:

    The Flight Control Agent performs all aspects of operations relating to releasing flights, updating flight information, and determining cancellations or amendments of domestic and international flights. Lynden Air Cargo is a US part 121 all-cargo airline based in Anchorage, Alaska. The company conducts operations in Alaska and worldwide operations around the world.     Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    Ensure compliance with Company and federal rules, regulations and Operations Specifications;

    Before releasing a flight, the Flight Control Agent will be thoroughly familiar with the reported and forecasted weather for each route to be flown and airport to be used, and irregularities pertaining to navigation, facilities, and services.

     

    Provide the PIC with additional information, including weather, facilities, and services which may affect the safety of the flight;

     

    Provide support for the PIC in determining if a cancellation or amendment to a flight release is necessary if the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released;

     

    Be familiar with the Minimum Equipment List on Company aircraft, performance characteristics, and weight and balance;

     

    Will prepare flight schedules, arrange for overflight and landing permits, arrange for fuel and ground handling as needed;

     

    Will provide charter quotes directly to customers and will liaise with Marketing and Traffic;

     

    Will ensure that all Company departments and customers are updated and notified of all flight activity;

    Will work directly with the Crew Scheduling department to check legalities and populate the flying schedule;

     

    Reports matters related to safety of flights to appropriate supervisory personnel.

     

    Travel and work internationally, without restrictions, as needed to fulfill Company requirements.

     

    May be required to work other shifts when assigned.

     

    Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position.

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training, with experience in international operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems that occur simultaneously in a highly controlled and regulated environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate

    Current US Passport

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Ability to demonstrate a practical knowledge of computer and computer software, including MS Word and Excel.

    Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including printers, copiers, and fax machines.

    Familiar with Minimum Equipment List on Company aircraft, performance characteristics, and weight and balance.

    Knowledge of flight operations systems software.

    Ability to handle VHF radio microphones, telephones, and to complete forms and other documents.

    Multilingual abilities highly desirable.

     

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be able to pass a post-hire fingerprint-based criminal history records check with no disqualifying criminal offenses.

    Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The daytime temperatures can be hot during the summer months.
